Tax Exemption for Black Americans Proposed as “Reparations” by Texas Democratic Congresswoman

A Texas congresswoman has suggested that descendants of slaves should be temporarily exempt from paying taxes as a way to distribute reparations.

Democratic Representative Jasmine Crockett appeared on an episode of the Black Lawyers Podcast released on Tuesday, suggesting that one way reparations could be paid to descendants of America’s former slave trade is for the group to be given a reprieve from paying taxes for a certain amount of time. The former civil rights and criminal attorney spoke of various ways reparations could be paid to living relatives of enslaved people.

She said that she saw “a celebrity,” whom Newsweek has been unable to identify, suggest that Black people should not have to pay taxes for an undetermined amount of time instead of being given money by a state or the federal government.

“One of the things they propose is Black folk not have to pay taxes for a certain amount of time because…that puts money back in your pocket,” she said.

If this insanity passes, then the federal government should prepare to set aside lots and lots of money for DNA kits. Americans across the country are going to “family lore” their way into claiming they are descendants of slaves brought over from Africa.

Crockett was at least aware-enough to realize many black Americans are already enjoying not paying taxes.

That’s when she suggested that the biggest problem may be that some black people aren’t paying their taxes currently.

‘If you do the no tax thing, for people that are already say, struggling and not really paying taxes in the first place…’ she says, before the host interrupts and says that they ‘may want those checks’ instead from the government.

‘Exactly,’ Crockett responded.

There is a myriad of taxes to which Americans are subjected: Car taxes, property taxes, sales taxes . . . just to name a few. Exactly which taxes should black Americans be exempt from paying?

Unfortunately, it appears that we are likely to be treated to Crockett’s racialist thinking for quite some time.

Crockett recently cruised through a Democratic primary in her Dallas district, securing 91.5% of the vote, according to the New York Times.

She is set to face libertarian candidate Ken Ashby in the race to retain her seat in November.

At least she didn’t propose that our Moon was made of gas. I give you Rep. Sheila Jackson, head of a congressional committee on science.

The former top Democrat on the House Science Committee’s space subcommittee could be seen on video telling Booker T. Washington High School in Houston, “You’ve heard the word ‘full moon.’ Sometimes you need to take the opportunity just to come out and see a full moon is that complete rounded circle, which is made up mostly of gases.”

Jackson Lee went on to say, “And that’s why the question is why or how could we as humans live on the moon? Are the gases such that we could do that?” By contrast, she remarked to high school students that living on the sun is not even remotely feasible, “The sun is a mighty powerful heat, but it’s almost impossible to go near the sun. The moon is more manageable.”

Our Founding Fathers envisioned that Congress would be made up of sensible individuals committed to the common good, possessing at least a modicum of education and intelligence. That recent earthquake in New Jersey was likely them rolling over in their graves.
